The Cushwa Center administers six funding opportunities supporting scholarly research across a range of subject areas. These programs are available to scholars both within and outside the University of Notre Dame.
Research Travel Grants support visits to the Notre Dame Archives and other University repositories. D’Agostino Grants support archival research in Rome. The Cyprian Davis Award recognizes outstanding research on the Black Catholic experience; Guerin Grants support projects centering on Catholic women. Hibernian Awards support research and writing on Irish and Irish American history. Gutiérrez Awards support projects engaging or taking inspiration from the work of Rev. Gustavo Gutiérrez, O.P.
The next application deadline for all six programs is December 31, 2025.
